DATELINE: Lower East Side, NYC
I have just come off a two-day straight final intensive edit session, wherein our ending was essentially finally realized by my brilliant editor Vivian Umino. For a petite Japanese girl, she can work like a machine. It was apt that our final cram session before the New York screening (tonight, as I type this) stretched over the Summer Solstice, June 21, the longest day of the year, because that’s what the whole thing kind of felt like, and then some.
I haven’t slept for more than a couple hours since…Thursday? And I still insist that anyone who says, “Oh, you can sleep on the plane,’ hasn’t tried sleeping on planes recently. Virgin America is at least the hippest way to suffer cross-country
And now I’m in New York, in a friend’s beautiful condo, about to crash on his sofa. Andrew Einhorn is an old friend from NYC cable access. His show Dog the Cat evolved into the Playboy show he now has, Naked Happy Girls. His walls are adorned with different nude girls, in black and white. I always envisioned his work as arty, but when I checked his website to link to it just now, it really does start to just look like porn.)
It will be interesting to see our newly-completed ending tonight, it will feel just as new to me.
In case you’re in New York…
